Overview
The Syracuse City Planning Commission comprises seven appointed and one alternate officials. Commission members are residents of the City and serve a four-year term. Commissioners are charged with the responsibility to administrate zoning, subdivision, and development-related ordinances. The Commission also makes recommendations to the Mayor and City Council regarding planning and community development decisions.
To accomplish the varied responsibilities of the City, the Planning Commission conducts meetings on the first and third Tuesdays of each month, at 6 p.m., with only one meeting held in December on the first Tuesday of that month. On occasion, a "joint work" session (with City Council members) is held on the fifth Tuesday of the month if available and needed. All meetings are open to the public. Planning Commission meeting agendas and approved minutes are available on-line or by contacting Judy Merrill, Community Development Administrative Assistant, at (801) 614-9626.
