City-Wide Emergency Communications Drill This Saturday @ 10am
In coordination with The Great Utah Shakeout, Syracuse City will be testing alternative ways of communication throughout your neighborhood.  Under this exercise, a mock earthquake scenario will occur on Saturday at approximately 10am.  It will be assumed that all telephone and cellular capabilities are lost.  The City has coordinated with volunteer district leaders and area leaders to test it's communication abilities through HAM radio networks.  Here are a few things you might notice on Saturday morning:
1. The 'air raid' siren at the fire station will sound at 10am indicating the beginning of the exercise.
2. Beginning around 9:45am, a Code Red telephone/text alert will go out to every Syracuse resident who has signed up.  To register your phone for Code Red emergency notifications, click here.
3. You might notice that some residents in your neighborhood will be volunteering to report to an area emergency coordinator, who has already been designated.
4.  You might notice that some businesses in the City are supporting this exercise by posting a related message on their electronic signs throughout the City.
